In the 2009-2010 biennium, Senator Gerlach has sought to restrict marriage rights and limit the civil liberties of people in our community. Gerlach co-authored a bill that seeks to define marriage as between a man and a woman and would limit the recognition of other domestic unions. Denying GLBT individuals the right to marry restricts their rights and creates a hostile climate of discrimination in Minnesota.
Senator Gerlach is seeking to repeal the constitutional amendment that preserves Minnesota’s natural resources and cultural heritage. This amendment is uniquely important to our community and all Minnesotans as it ensures that clean water, wildlife and ecosystem are protected.
This amendment is central to protect our children’s legacy and was supported by the majority of citizens in our district. Gerlach’s views and actions do not represent our community’s beliefs.
